Sölden
Sölden ranks among the most popular winter sports resorts world-wide. Several times it has been hosting the Alpine Ski World Cup and, over the last decades, it has become one of the greatest ski and snowboard centres in Europe. The entire region consists of more than 150 km of immaculate ski slopes for all levels and abilities. The Giggijoch area provides the perfect terrain for beginners and intermediate skiers, while the ski areas challenging Gaislachkogel peak (3,058 m) offers both steep slopes for experts and fantastic off-piste routes for adventurers. In Sölden snow is guaranteed from November to May due to the altitude of the ski area, 2 glacier, as well as to excellent snow making facilities covering all ski slopes up to 2,200 m above sea level. State-of-the-art mountain railways featuring a total capacity of 68,000 persons per hour bring you to Sölden 's endless winter sports highlights (no queuing). The winter ski area is conveniently connected to the glacier ski area by the so-called "Golden Gate to the Glacier " lifts. In the Rettenbach Glacier ' s "Schwarze Schneide " area another highlight is waiting for you: the valley 's most outstanding top-to-bottom ski slope is 12,8 km long with 1,880 m difference in altitude.
