New: highest cable car in Austria at Pitztal Glacier.

During 2 summer seasons, 2011 and 2012, the company Pitztal Glacier railway builds the new cable car ‚Wildspitzbahn‘, a detachable 8-seater gondola lift with heat seating, onto the 3.440 m high ‘Hinteren Brunnenkogel’. The new cable car will replace the existing 4 cabin gondola ‘Pitz Panoramabahn’, which was build in 1989.

The building shell of the valley station is located 100 m southwest of the mountain station ‘Gletscherexpress’. The lower part of the gondola line will be constructed newly. After 1.080 m, it will follow the existing line of the cable car Pitz Panoramabahn. On the height of 3.440 m, a new mountain station with a café called Café 3.440 will be build.

Attractiveness and opening time:

Next to the architecture and the technology of the ropeway, the Café 3.440 is the highlight of the whole region. Besides the comfortable ride with the highest cable car in Austria, the visitor enjoys an outstanding view onto the majestic ‘Wildspitze’, Tyrol’s highest mountain, from the highest outlook of Austria. Behind wide panoramic windows or on the levitating terrace, over 100 guests find place to relish a hot cappuccino or espresso surrounded by the mountain and glacier world.

Tyrol’s highest Glacier offers with this gondola lift a year-round attraction for summer as well as for winter guests. The construction work will be finalized in October 2012.
